# Groundrule

> Groundrule turns an engineering team's standards into instructions every coding agent follows (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, Cursor rules, GitHub Copilot instructions, and live over MCP) and into deterministic checks that run on every change, locally and in CI. Teams start from 171 maintained standards in 13 open-source packs, import the rules their repositories, documents and pull-request reviews already hold, review them in one inbox, and roll each rule out in stages (Observe, Teach, Advise, Enforce) on evidence from their own code.

Groundrule is in private early access and free while in early access. It is built by Vyana Compute. The open-source kernel (rule format, CLI, checks, packs, MCP server) is Apache-2.0 at https://github.com/Metricall-AI-Lab/groundrule-oss; the hosted platform is https://app.groundrule.dev. AI features (describe a rule, find rules in documents, draft standards) always produce proposals that a person accepts, labelled AI with a confidence and a citation; AI never changes a rulebook on its own. Groundrule does not store customers' source code: checks run on their machines, and scans upload results with at most a few short redacted snippets.
